Big, bold, and beautiful –a glamorous deluxe diva, Dance/House recording artist, and drag queen personality Sheena Rose (aka Jacob Paiva) “The Queen of the Clubs” exploded onto the San Francisco drag club scene in the summer of 2006. With a stage presence and look that is inspired by a smoky mix of Anna Nicole Smith meets drag icon Divine, Sheena has become a staple to the City’s night life for the last 12 years, gracing every notable stage and headlining Pride shows in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Not content on being just another lip-syncing drag artist and inspired to fulfill her dreams of recording and performing her own hit dance music, Sheena Rose was introduced to the Dance/House music scene in 2012 by Billboard charting dance music producer DJ William Umana, with their underground club track “Time (Clock of the Heart)” (available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play), a cover of the Culture Club classic. Among industry powerhouses who took notice were Billboard-acclaimed dance music producer Leo Frappier (aka: LFB), who got his start working with disco legends Sylvester and Jeanie Tracy.
2013, turned out to be an amazing, creative year for Sheena. Sheena released “Make Me Over” (iTunes, Amazon, Google Play) to great success, hitting #1 on Kings of Spins, and getting to work with some of her favorite artists, producers, and DJs on the project, like Leo Frappier, Subgroover, Doctorz MD, Nina Flowers, Naked Highway, and more. On October 29th 2013, Sheena released her follow up hit “Queen of Clubs” (available on iTunes, Amazon, Beatport) with notable House music producer DJ MDW and featuring Miami DJ/House vocalist VButterfly La Mariposa for Flava Music record label, which introduced Sheena to a worldwide Latin House Music market and was another club banger and chart hit for Sheena (Starfleet Music Pool #1 Breakout Song of the Week, #47 Mass Pool, Beatport End of the Year Top 10). Sheena’s spouse, Juan has played a major role in the creative development of the Sheena Rose brand, including co-writing songs for Sheena (“Make Me Over, “Blonde Ambition” and more). “Just Can’t Wait (‘Til Christmas)” (available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play), Sheena’s campy holiday track produced by Leo Frappier and featuring San Francisco Dance artist Gypsy Love, followed in December 2013.
Sheena was a featured vocalist on San Francisco EDM recording artist Marco Middlesex’s sizzling electro pop hit “Sexation”, released on Valentine’s Day 2014. June 27th 2014, Sheena Rose released her House cover of the gay anthem “I Am What I Am” in celebration of her appearance at Trans March 2014, performing it and a medley of her club tracks at the event. October 2014 would see the release of a new single and dance floor hit for Sheena, “Dirty Cash” (iTunes, Amazon, Google Play), a cover of the 90’s House classic by Adventures of Stevie V.
After a brief break from recording, Sheena returned to the dance floor and club charts in 2016 with her biggest club chart success yet, with “Two of Hearts”. The single and remix EP’s hit #1 on Kings of Spins Top 20, #3 and #4 on Masspools Top 50 Crossover Chart and Top 50 Dance Chart, #6 and #8 on Starfleet Music’s Top 50 Dance and Top 50 Crossover charts, and #13 on the ZipDJ Dance chart. Sheena Rose returned in 2017 with Top 10 chart hits in “Blonde Ambition” and “We’re Done” with DJ SwitchTwista. 2018 saw the release of the club chart hits “Give It To You” (#1 Masspool Electronic Dance Chart, #3 Starfleet Dance) and “Private Dancer”(#4 Masspool Dance, #2/#3 Starfleet Dance/Crossover), and “Diva Deluxe” – Sheena’s debut album, a collection of her previous club hits and featuring the new song “Private Dancer”.
Sheena Rose returns in 2019 with her newest maxi-single release “Love Reaction”, a cover of the 80’s Divine song, produced by Leo Frappier and featuring remixes by Rob Moore, Greg Nouveau, and SPare. Sheena puts her sexy, breathy stamp on this updated throw back of the 80s HI NRG classic by drag icon Divine, making the song her own, while also paying homage to her musical drag idol.
Sheena can be seen performing weekly Friday and Saturday nights with the Hot Boxxx Girls at Aunt Charlie’s Lounge (the longest running drag show in the San Francisco Bay Area) and monthly for High Fantasy Tuesdays at Aunt Charlie’s Lounge.
